Having spent the majority of his life in Texas, David Justin Miller has developed an affinity for hunting and enjoys heading out to hunt when he has the opportunity. He often takes a partner along with him to help and notes that a good hunting partner will have a number of different traits that ensure they are up to the task.
A Good Eye
One of the main reasons for taking a hunting partner along with you is to take advantage of the fact that they offer an extra pair of eyes. They should understand the importance of being able to scan the areas that you aren’t looking at, making the tandem as efficient as possible, in addition to being able to act as a spotter for long-distance shots.
Good Communication
If you are unable to communicate with your hunting partner effectively you may find that you end up scaring any game you come across away. You need to be able to develop a good system of silent communication that lets each know what the other is doing without the need for speaking or shouting.
Similar Ethics
Everybody sticks to a certain code of ethics when hunting, but David Justin Miller points out that this code can vary from person to person. You don’t want to be stuck with a hunting partner who is willing to hunt animals that you don’t want to, or vice-versa. As such, you should speak with your partner before heading out so that you understand what you are looking to achieve from the hunt and ensure you are both on the same wavelength.
